I am running for re-election to the Board of Selectman. As your elected official, I have actively participated in managing two town budgets. I have voted consistently to reduce our taxes and keep our mill rate low while maintaining our services and the high quality of life our residents have come to expect. During the budget process, I worked to prioritize projects based on the needs of our community. I am co-chair of the Short-Term Rental Work Group, as well as liaison to the Public Building Committee, the Simsbury Housing Authority, the Economic Development Commission and the Design Review Board.
I have lived in Simsbury my entire life – starting out my education at Latimer Lane, continuing through St. Mary’s School and graduating from Simsbury High School. I have made lifelong friends in this town and I could not be more proud to call Simsbury my only home. My record of volunteering for Simsbury started 17 years ago with the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. I have served as a past President and continue to serve on many committees. I have also joined the Simsbury Juniors Woman’s Club. Prior to being elected to the Board of Selectmen, I served as a commissioner on the Zoning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals in Simsbury. I am an active member of the Simsbury community and I look for opportunities to make a difference in our town.
One of the biggest issues we are still facing are the effects of the pandemic. I worked with our business owners early on in the pandemic and their upcoming 4th quarter sales are critical to keeping their doors open. They are telling me they are not out of the woods yet. I am also working with the town on the best ways to use the American Rescue Plan Act Funds. I will continue to work to be the voice for the community and listening to our residents as we navigate the pandemic.
I have worked as a realtor in Simsbury for 15 years. My clients are both residents of Simsbury and people who are new to town. This gives me a good understanding of what people are looking for, including a beautiful place to live with great schools and a nice sense of community. Simsbury is a wonderful place to live and it’s important to keep its character and charm. I would appreciate your vote on November 2nd.
