Over the years I have worked hard for Simsbury.  I would like to have the opportunity to continue to do so as a member of the Simsbury Zoning Commission. Zoning regulations are designed to promote the health, safety and welfare of our community. The Zoning Board is charged with protecting the character and maintaining the stability of residential and business areas within the town. Additionally, the Zoning Commission regularly reviews the existing zoning regulations. I pledge to do so, as I have during the past four years, with honesty, fairness and integrity, keeping in mind Simsbury’s best interests and the best interests of its residents.

A 40-year resident of Simsbury, I have served the town in a variety of roles. Currently, I am a member of the Zoning Commission completing my first term as a commissioner. Previously, I was elected to the Simsbury Public Library Board of Trustees in 1996 and re-elected 3 times.  I have served as Vice-Chairperson and Corresponding Secretary. I am also a member of the Aging and Disability Commission. In Simsbury, I have been a Special Education teacher and the Coordinator of the McLean Meals-On-Wheels program. At this time, I am licensed as a nursing home administrator.

My three children attended the Simsbury Public Schools and I have been a PTO Co-President and a member of the Simsbury Arts Council. Presently, I am a tutor with Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford, a McLean volunteer and a member of the Friends of the Library and the Simsbury Land Trust.

I believe that reducing the tax burden of Simsbury residents, while making Simsbury an affordable place to live, has been and continues to be a challenge. To do this, while protecting and preserving the character of the town and town center, sustaining its farmland and open spaces, and keeping Simsbury a desirable place to live, work, educate, play and retire is a huge challenge. Yet, it is so important and integral to Simsbury. We can and must do this while protecting, preserving, and sustaining Simsbury’s quality of life, its beauty and its charm. I strongly and firmly believe it can be accomplished with community input, vision, planning, collaboration, and integrity.

I ask for your support and vote on November 7th.
